Announcing TransitionManager 5.0

Powerful orchestration platform offers enhanced user experience, flexible toolchain integration and on-demand runbooks to support complex IT workstreams.

March 10, 2020 – Westborough, Ma. – TDS today announced the release of TransitionManager 5.0 to accelerate adoption of transformative, new technologies. TDS has included innovative new features in its TransitionManager platform, built to plan, collaborate and orchestrate successful execution of application modernization, data center and cloud migrations, and recovery / DR initiatives. TransitionManager is the industry-leading software platform that provides end-to-end orchestration for key platforms like VMware, AWS, Azure, hybrid cloud, and physical environments.

“Implementing edge, containers and other new technology is all about driving business growth. But CIOs are finding it a huge challenge to keep pace with these new technologies while still struggling to make much progress toward cloud adoption. If the businesses are to scale up quickly, IT must be able to make changes faster. But IT leaders are taking big risks if they minimize the complexity of the environment and follow traditional decision-making processes,” said Michael Bullock, CEO and co-founder of TDS. “To avoid organizational friction and prevent projects from stalling, these initiatives can no longer be managed by independent teams or solely through the lens of IT. Success is dependent on breaking down the barriers between IT and business and establishing close collaboration using a common set of tools especially designed to support that collaboration,” Bullock concluded.

Since becoming commercially available in 2014, TransitionManager software has helped hundreds of customers migrate over 250,000 applications and over one million workloads. Now, version 5.0 builds on this success with innovative new features to power IT transformations:

  • Automated ingestion of asset details from various systems of record, enabling users to normalize their data for decision making and downstream automation. ETL scripts can be customized as necessary. Information can be pulled directly from sources via APIs where available.
  • Integration of isolated workstream tools into a consolidated toolchain that streamlines work across data ingestion, analysis and planning and transport processes. By integrating server, application and workload data with business facts, it provides the information needed to automate the transport capabilities of tools such HCX, AWS CloudEndure, Carbonite and others. By using API calls where available, the data entry process can be streamlined and replaced with a single button click.
  • Expanded capability to generate complex workstreams at the click of a button. This capability integrates human and automated tasks in both waterfall and agile workstreams used for high-level planning, cloud migration, data center migration and application recovery / DR. Managed workstreams accelerate processes and eliminate the sequence and task dependency errors common in complex plans that involve disparate teams and repetitive manual tasks.
  • Improved ability to leverage automation while maintaining security requirements with TransitionManager Desktop – a tightly integrated companion application, that directly connects various “tools of action” used by the organization so they are run by the administrators on their laptops and connect directly to the various transport tools in use.
  • Enhanced User Experience and User Interface (UX/UI) to support a growing set of uses identified by TransitionManager customers. These include application rationalization, large scale cloud adoption, application recovery / DR as well as hybrid data center migrations / consolidations which require an additional level of visibility and collaboration other tools are not equipped to deliver.

Eric Kraieski, VP of the TDS software business unit commented, “With the new features of TransitionManager 5.0, we offer organizations a more efficient and effective platform for collaboration and planning which will help them succeed in their ongoing business transformation and IT modernization efforts. These features leverage automation to present a holistic and actionable view of the entire IT environment so that teams can collaborate together and then orchestrate complex workstreams so that the human and automated tasks run faster, smoother, and more efficiently.”

TransitionManager software is available as a SaaS or on-prem license. It is available directly from TDS, through our partner network, from AWS marketplace and is on the GSA schedule. TDS offers software adoption services such as onboarding, training, knowledgebase, and consulting services. The company’s experts also offer hands-on project acceleration services to help you get started or to complete your full end-to-end modernization or migration project on an accelerated, outsourced basis.
